I had this back pack style years ago and I'm happy with this fit and style.

Skimping compared to where they used to be

Bought this as a replacement to a 2018 year Mission 25L. All the good features, real sized buckles and padding are on the much more expensive Mission Pro, leaving this back at this price point (still expensive) missing a lot. It’s a blatant example of cheaping out.

Narrow Straps, Not as padded as the old style

I ordered this as a replacement under warranty for an older version of the Dakine 25L Mission backpack. The pockets on this new style are well thought out, and it feels to be fabricated beautifully as my previous packs have been too. The zippers are nice and smooth. I love that it still offers a laptop sleeve as well as a variety of other pockets. My old pack has been well loved and took me through university, hiking trips, travelling and as my work bag, so having a backpack I can use in a variety of settings as a true lifestyle pack and that fits comfortably is important to me. Unfortunately, I did have to send this one back. The gap between where the straps meet on the back is significantly more narrow than the older style, so I found this pack uncomfortable when trying it on as it was rubbing at the sides of my neck. I also found the chest and waist straps to be more narrow and not as nicely padded compared to the older style, something I really loved about my old bag. I wish I could have loved this one as much, but it just didn’t hit the mark as well as the older Mission 25L pack did for me.

Will last you a lifetime, and suits many uses.

I'm considering getting a new Mission to have a second available to keep nice for places I can't be dragging dirt into. If you're on the fence about spending the money on a good backpack, trust me, I understand. These are worth the price because they will last you forever. Seriously, I'm getting the feeling I'll have mine the rest of my life. I first got it in 2011, and since then it transitioned to a workhorse for day use. The pockets are slightly different on the side.. The reason I am so impressed is that I've had my current model for so long, and it's not looking weak at all. Yes it shows fading on the front now, and last year the hip belt clip broke only because I dropped something heavy on it but Dakine provides replacement parts for sale. The back panel looks amazing still. I've attached snowshoes, skateboards, dry bags, and helmets. The fabric has stood up against all of it. I love the side storage pockets because I can slide all the small items I need right away in them (pepper spray, glasses) . So keep this in mind. There's a reason they keep this model around. If you want something versatile that will not have to get replaced in 5 years, you'll find it in the Mission, and other Dakine packs.

Like it’s a part of me

The women’s fit makes all the difference. I’m 5’2” and the shoulders are slim enough to stay snug but move with me. I’ve been out on a few decent snowshoe hikes and it holds the entire outer layer plus food/beverages and emergency gear. Like the buckles too, easy to open with liner gloves on.

Well made, great fit

Thanks to COVID I want to be completely self contained on the slopes. My new backpack is super comfortable and well made. I’ve carried snacks and drinks for a family of 5 without even noticing it was on my back. Hooray!

Awesome pack

I love my new Dakine pack, especially all the pockets and zippered areas to store various items. I also love the flowered design. Look forward to using it daily. Thanks for making a winner and I appreciate how it is made environmentally friendly.
