Here at Dakine, we are not just a group of workers trying to design, sell, and market our products. We are a group of riders, skiers, snowboarders, and surfers that are committed to supporting the communities where we live, work, and most importantly, play.

This past weekend in Sun Valley, ID, Dakine hosted the Super Duper D bike race as a fundraiser for the Wood River Trails Coalition. Organized by Dakine's Mountain Marketing Manager Gabe Schroder with support from Dakine retailer Sturtevant's of Sun Valley, the event was a success and raised nearly $1000 for WRTC while bringing the community together for a great afternoon of racing on Sun Valley's iconic Bald Mountain and partying at the finish line at Apple's Bar and Grill.

Riders ages 15 to 61 descended from the top of Baldy, leaving in one minute increments. Descending more than 3,200 feet over 10 miles, the Super Duper D course has something for everyone. Sweeping views, short, lung busting climbs, high speed descents, and it all finishes with a steet party and raucious crowd at Apple's Bar and Grill.

Once racers cross the finish line, the 21+ age categories have the option to pound a beer cleanly in under 20 seconds to earn a one minute time bonus. After racing down the mountain for 35+ minutes, this bonus proved difficult to obtain as only 20 out of 56 racers could do so. Apparently the body craves oxygen more than beer when fully out of breath so a big congratulations to our time bonus winners. After the race, the street party raged while the race times were processed.

Congrats to Nate Sheehan for winning the Men's 21-49 age group with a time of 34:59.

Sturtevant's owner Olin Glenne won the Men's 50+ category (37:16 beer bonus included)

For the women, Eve Cord won the 21-49 age group with a time of 42.09.

Congrats to these winners who were the only racers in their age category.

With a ton of support from the local crowd, a good time was had by all in attendance and we look forward to working with the Sun Valley community once again next year to keep this race going. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the cause.
